After a detrimental fall causing a traumatic brain injury, Leonel Laurel looked at five hospitals for the best care. He chose Weslaco Regional Rehabilitation Hospital (WRRH) to get him as high-functioning and healthy as possible so he could return home quickly.

An Army veteran and Rio Grande Valley native who served our local community and nation, Leonel impressed the team at WRRH with his physical, mental, and emotional strength. He met each day with a great attitude and a smile.

“My stay here was a blessing,” Leonel says. “Before my fall, I was independent. After the fall, I couldn’t even walk. Now, I’m walking again. Everyone here treated me like a king.” Leonel goes on to say that he rates the staff and hospital a 10/10.

With the help of the team of experts, a supportive family, and perseverance, Leonel left WRRH having made great strides in his health and mobility.
